The Arecibo Telescope Live
Join Professor Tim O’Brien as he talks via live video link from the Lovell Stage to astronomer Dr Robert Minchin at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico. The observatory is famous for its iconic 305-metre diameter radio telescope, the largest in the world for more than 50 years following its completion in 1963. Today, the telescope carries out fundamental research in areas ranging from potentially hazardous asteroids to the study of gravitational waves.
