Blue Dot
Blue Dot
Professor Tim O’Brien celebrates 60 years of the Lovell Telescope, 50 years of pulsars and 40 years since the launch of the Voyager spacecraft. It was Voyager 1 that took a famous photograph in which the Earth, from a distance of 6 billion kilometres, is just a tiny dot. A photograph which inspired Dr Carl Sagan’s book, Pale Blue Dot, and after which we named our festival. Welcome to bluedot 2017!
