Explore the Big Bang in 3D and Virtual Reality
We invite you to explore the farthest reaches of space and time, almost back to the beginning of the Universe in the Big Bang.
You can explore microwave observations from the Planck spacecraft in 3D virtual space, helping you see magnetic fields traced by spiralling electrons and spinning dust grains, and the effect of 100 million light-year wide gravitational waves generated a tiny fraction of a second after the Big Bang.
The release of polarisation data from Planck gives much more information and allows us to see our own Milky Way galaxy and the Universe as a whole in a new way, but it requires an extra dimension to view it – this is achieved with 3D rendering on Virtual Reality headsets and a 3D TV.
