Indestructible Reef by Alison Booth
Alison Smith transforms recycled materials into sculptural lighting and light installations. After exhibiting Bloom at Bluedot last year, this year Alison will bring a series of glowing sculptures, The Indestructible Reef. Created entirely from recycled plastic and crafted to mimic organic forms, the Reef is lit from within by 250 LEDs, programmed to replicate the motion and colours of underwater life. Through this piece, Alison aims to illustrate the devastating effects waste plastics are having on our oceans, with plastic particles already outweighing plankton by 26:1 in some areas.
