Interactive Light Art

bluedot has played host to many intriguing art installations over the years, attracting a spectrum of talented artists, from art-school graduates right through to internationally acclaimed, seasoned professionals. The Lovell Telescope itself is annually transformed into a gargantuan, audio-visual light art installation – you can find out more about it here

Across the site, each of our artists interpret the ethos of Bluedot in their own unique way, challenging the audience to “observe – explore – experiment”. Past festivals have welcomed installations in all shapes and sizes, from ‘Colony’, a collection of supersized, huggable, singing orbs; ‘Talk the Skies’, an enormous, digitally programmed column of shooting light, which reacted to audiences singing, to the World premiere of Gaia by Luke Jerram, an enormous, hyper-realistic Earth, created using NASA imagery taken from the International Space Station. Wander into the Outer Space area at bluedot 2020 after 10PM, which will be home to this year’s most exciting installation artists.
