Mark Paine
Mark Paine is a scientist at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. He works on mosquitoes and other blood sucking insects that transmit tropical diseases; a long list that includes malaria, dengue, leishmaniasis and zika. Resistance to insecticides remains one of the greatest threats to disease control. His work focuses on understanding how insects become resistant to insecticides and developing simple tools that can be used to fight resistance in countries where these diseases are prevalent.
