Now Here is the Space Weather: From Solar Winds to Magnetic Fields
Space isn’t quite as empty as you might think. As it orbits the Sun, our planet is constantly buffeted by solar winds and bathed in the remnants of the Sun’s massive magnetic field. Apart from stimulating the beautiful aurora borealis, changes in the space environment driven by solar activity and known as “space weather” can have an enormous impact upon human technologies under, on and above the surface of the Earth. Jim Wild will look at the science behind space weather and consider some of the implications of living with a star.
