Practical Action: The Beat the Flood Challenge
Our climate is changing – disasters such as floods, landslides and droughts are becoming more frequent and it’s the people who have contributed the least to climate change, who are suffering the most. The Beat the Flood challenge created by Practical Action, will give children aged 5-11 years the chance to investigate how increased levels of flooding is effecting people across the world and how solutions can make them more prepared. They will then put this knowledge into action by designing and building a model of a flood-proof house which will be tested on water. This challenge is a great way of understanding the problems faced by communities across the world, and how ingenious solutions can help save and transform lives.
Recommended for ages 5-11. All children must be supervised by a responsible adult throughout the workshop.
Workshop Times: 1:10pm, 2:30pm, 3:50pm
