Professor Philip Diamond

The Director of Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Organisation, Prof. Philip Diamond will talk about one of the most visionary and ambitious science projects of the 21st century. Bringing together countries from around the world, the SKA telescope will ultimately be the largest scientific instrument on Earth and one of the biggest big data projects. From exploring the nature of gravity and gravitational waves to the early evolution of the Universe, to helping us understand the nature of Dark Energy and Dark Matter, or finding out whether there’s life out there, the SKA will cover a wide range of exciting science aiming at cracking some of the most intriguing mysteries in the universe.

Professor Philip Diamond is the Director-General of the SKA (Square Kilometre Array) Project. He was appointed to this position in October 2012, and is responsible for the team designing and ultimately constructing and operating the SKA, which, when completed, will be the largest scientific project on Earth.
