Róisín Murphy
Ireland’s queen of the avant-garde, Róisín Murphy first became known in the 1990s as one-half of the UK alternative dance duo Moloko, before embarking on a solo career that has revealed her wonderfully idiosyncratic music, fashion, and performance sensibilities.
Over the course of four solo albums and numerous side projects, with collaborators including Matthew Herbert, Eddie Stevens and DJ Koze, Róisín has picked up nominations for the Mercury Music Prize and Ireland’s Choice Music Prize, consistently adding bold new surprises to her sound with each successive record.
Her thirst for running with playful and adventurous new identities has given us enthralling tracks merging classic pop hooks, electronica, house and disco. Her shape-shifting visual persona never ceases to provoke and delight in equal measure.
