Sally Cooper: Spinder: a dating app for pulsars
Sally is a Pulsar Hunter at the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics. She received her PhD in Radio Astronomy at the University of Manchester in 2017 and continues to research into searching for pulsars using the next generation of radio telescopes, like the Square Kilometre Array. Pulsars are dead spinning stars and part of Sally’s research is to learn how to train computers to help identify pulsars using machine learning techniques. Sally was also the co-founder of Pulsar Hunters, a citizen science project hosted by Zooniverse which invites everybody to help discover new pulsars.

We’ll take a tour of the Galaxy and see what starry companions might be compatible. Maybe it’ll end as an explosive supernova or a dance of love in an eternal orbit around each other.
