The Square Kilometre Array

The SKA project is an international effort to build the World’s largest radio telescope, led by the SKA Organisation located at Jodrell Bank. The first phase of the project will see nearly 200 telescope dishes in South Africa and more than 131,000 antennas positioned in Australia, enabling astronomers to explore the Universe in unprecedented detail and helping to improve our understanding of the Universe and the laws of fundamental physics.

While 12 countries are at the core of the SKA, around 100 organisations across about 20 countries have been participating in its design and development.

At the SKA stand at bluedot, come and meet some of the scientists and engineers involved in designing and building the SKA. Have a look at the SKA sites with our VR experience, try some hands-on activities with our Bee-Bot floor robots and see our inflatable SKA dish, standing over 8 metres tall.
